Who should attend? This course is aimed at people who have a responsibility for screening people entering premises and monitoring their behaviour inside. The course is suitable for people working in premises such as nightclub, bars, events and retail guarding. The BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Door Supervisors qualification meets the criteria set by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) thus allowing successful candidates to apply for a (SIA) Door Supervisor licence.

Security Guard

Who should attend?
The security guard training allows an individual to work in the security industry as a standard security guard. The SIA security guard license allows an individual to work in many premises; for example shopping malls, retail, construction sites, residential sites, schools, hospitals, banks etc. However security guard licence holders cannot work in regulated entertainment venues or in premises that sell alcohol. For that you need to attend a door supervisor course.
Course contents
- The BIIAB Level 2 Award in Security Guarding qualification meets the criteria set by the security industry Authority (SIA) thus allowing successful candidates to apply for a (SIA) security guard licence
- Under the Private Security Industry Act 2001, all security guards must hold a licence to practise issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA)
- The Level 2 Award in Security Guarding is a nationally recognised qualification and is the industry standard
- Successful completion of this course enables a security guard to meet one of the requirements to apply for their licence
- Security guards perform many of the same tasks as door supervisors, with the main difference being that a security guard does not take the same "front of house" role that a door supervisor does. Nonetheless, the tasks of a security guard are equally important for ensuring that there is a peaceful, secure atmosphere wherever they are employed

The Security Guard training is conducted over three day with the candidate completing the following units of multiple choice question examinations:

Physical Intervention Programme

Course overview
The physical intervention programme provides candidates with a wider range of non-violent options for dealing with the most common scenarios involving physical contact. It does not offer a technique to cover every possible situation, but provides a solid foundation in terms of knowledge and skills to further reduce risk to customers and staff.

Who should attend?
The most significant area of need and opportunity lies with those personnel performing licensable security functions. However, the programme could also cover wider needs within licensed retail environments, for example, providing an option of lower level disengagement skills for those in non-security roles such as licensees and other frontline staff.
Course contents
The programme comprises two modules:
Assessment information
Students are assessed on physical intervention skills throughout the course by instructor observation.
- Module 1: Disengagement (defensive) skills. The module addresses how learners can protect themselves and others from assault and includes relevant aspects of law, medical implications and safe practice. Disengagement may be sufficient for some individuals in non-security functions.
- Module 2: Escort and holding skills. This module addresses restrictive holds and focuses on teaching safer skills for common holding activities such as during ejection. The focus is on standing holds and escorts but the programme raises awareness of the risk associated with restraint in different positions. Training in holding skills will incorporate disengagement.

CCTV (PSS) Course

This nationally recognised award, spread over 4 days is an introductory course aimed at giving learners the basic job training in CCTV Operations. The course covers the key subjects recommended by the SIA enabling the learner to apply for an SIA Licence.
For the CCTV operative badge the candidate needs to complete the following modules:

- Working as a CCTV operative
- Practical operation of CCTV
Who should attend?
The CCTV Operator training course allows an individual to work in the security industry as an operator of CCTV systems. The SIA CCTV Operator licence allows an individual to work with all types of CCTV systems, analogue and digital. The SIA CCTV Operator licence also allows you to manage and work in a CCTV control room.
