Course overview
The Level Two Award in manual handling qualification provides essential information about manual handling hazards and their control. To give you maximum flexibility this one qualification gives you two possible outcomes.
Part 1 can be delivered as a half-day programme for learners who only wish to gain the Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling. Those who need to learn about practical manual handling techniques can stay on for a further half day training session and assessment to gain the full Level 2 Award in Manual Handling.
Principles and Practice
This manual handling training qualification to benefit anyone who has to carry out any manual handling activities at work by introducing them to the hazards of manual handling, the risks involved and the controls that are available to help prevent injury.
The course in addition will teach learners techniques to lift, carry, push and pull objects safely within their individual capabilities with the aim of reducing the number of work-related injuries associated with manual handling.

Part 1 will allow learners to understand the risks associated with manual handling and to make recommendations to manage those risks.
Part 2 will allow learners to apply the principles of safer handling to a range of everyday manual handling tasks.

The Level 2 Award in Fire Safety Principles allows candidates to develop their basic fire safety awareness.
It is particularly useful for employees who are to have a designated responsibility for workplace fire safety, for example as fire wardens or fire marshals, and provides the knowledge that will allow them to carry out duties relating to fire safety and emergency procedures. Successfully completing the Level 2 Award in Fire Safety Principles training course will enable you to become a fire warden/marshal in your organisation.

The Level two Award in Moving People Safely is intended as a further development qualification for those working in areas where the assistance and movement of people is a prerequisite part of their role. The qualification is underpinned by the safe principles of moving and handling but recognises the special skills required when assisting and moving people.
Who should attend?
The qualification is suitable for new starters in organisations where the movement and assistance of people is a key role as well as been suitable for refresher training.

Assessment information
Part one tests learner’s knowledge on the subject and is assessed by a 30 minute, 15 question multiple choice examination. Successful learners must achieve at least 10 out 15 on the test to pass this element of the qualification.
Part two is a competency based assessment carried out by the nominated tutor. Candidates must practically demonstrate the application of the correct techniques as indicated within the learning outcomes of the unit.
